The Inactive tab displays all of the inactive people in your account.
The following information or features are available:
- View the email address
- View Lifetime Value recorded at the time they were moved to Inactive
- View Orders recorded at the time they were moved to Inactive
- View Deactivated date
- Export as a CSV file
- Search for an email address
You can click on an email address to view the person's profile, but you will be unable to take any actions within the profile of an inactive person.
The following information or features are not available:
- Engage the people listed
- Record new data
Inactive people do not count towards your billing statement. However, if they were active during your billing cycle, they will count towards the total for that cycle per our High Watermark Billing System.
Reactivate an Inactive Person
The following changes are made when you Activate an Inactive person
- Allows you to engage with them using all of Drip’s features.
- Drip will begin tracking events, orders, LTV, etc.
- You will be billed for this person
- Begin receiving emails they were subscribed to when the deactivation occurred
- Drip records a “Person activated” event on the person’s activity timeline so that you can see when someone was activated and segment based on activation date.
If you have an OMS connected or are using the Shopper Activity API, customers who are inactive will be reactivated when they place an order. If you want to keep these customers inactive, our Support team can help you set up an automation to deactivate them.
Manually Activate an Inactive Person
- In the Inactive tab, locate the person
- Click Activate
- The person will now appear in your Active tab
Only account owners and admins can activate people who are currently Inactive. If you do not have Support All People enabled, your process will be different.
Manually Activate an Inactive Person in an Account without Support All People
You will need to upload a CSV or choose the Email List Bulk Operation and use the "Subscribe a Person" action. When running an Email List Bulk Operation, make sure to select "Add person to my account," as shown here:
Alternatively, the customer could submit a Drip form.
Delete an Inactive Person
- In the Inactive tab, locate the person
- Click Delete
When you delete a person, it permanently removes them and their data from your account. This action cannot be undone.
Export a CSV File of All Inactive People
Inactive people exports include the following data:
- Token
- Email address
- Time zone
- Status
- Created at
- Inactive at
- Lifetime value
To export a CSV of all inactive people:

Go to People > Inactive

Click Actions > Export to CSV
The CSV file will be downloaded directly to your browser.
