If you joined Drip before October 15th, 2019, you have the option to manually enable Support All People. Reach out to Support with any additional questions!
At Drip, we know that the ways people engage, shop, and purchase from your brand vary greatly. Some people are brand loyalists but have never opened an email. Others open all your emails but never purchase.
Our goal is to help you build loyalty and drive more revenue with your customers, no matter the channels they prefer to engage with. Marketers need to be able to build relationships and engage with ALL people, not just those who are subscribed to marketing emails.
Supporting All People allows you to:
Reach ALL people through third-party integrations like Facebook and Instagram.
Send personalized transactional emails.
Trigger behavior-based workflows for unsubscribed people.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to turn on the Support All People feature so you can engage with your customers in all channels, as well as what that means for your bill.
Before You Get Started
Here are some things to keep in mind before you turn on Support All People in your account.
Turning on this feature may increase your bill in the future. Moving forward, anyone who unsubscribes or is marked as undeliverable will be “active.” We won’t automatically deactivate them, but you can use a workflow to deactivate people who are undeliverable or unsubscribed.
Once you turn on Support All People you can use Bulk Operations to deactivate people who are not valuable. We recommend regularly deactivating unengaged people to maintain good list health and keep expenses as low as possible.
Adding unsubscribed people will not impact your marketing email deliverability because they will not be receiving those emails. When pruning based on email open activity, Drip will only remove people who aren’t opening emails they actually received. It’s still important to maintain healthy contact points with these people, not abusing the channels like social media and transactional emails.
Drip will always comply with GDPR and CAN-SPAM regulations. We respect the marketing preferences of consumers—if a person has unsubscribed from marketing emails, Drip will not allow commercial/marketing emails to be sent to them.

Activating Support All People is a permanent switch. Support All People cannot be disabled once enabled.
Export Inactive People before enabling Support All People
The first step is to export a CSV file of everyone who’s currently Inactive. When you enable "Activate All People", anyone currently inactive will be moved to the Active list. If you would like to keep them under your Inactive list, you will need to perform a Bulk Operation to deactivate them.
Go to People > Inactive
Click Export to CSV
An email with a link to the CSV file will be sent to the email address that you're logged in as. Keep this file for use after you Activate All People below.
Activate All People
Only account owners and admins can activate Support All People.
Activating All People will not move everyone under the Inactive tab to Active status under the Active tab.
Go to People > Inactive
Click Activate All People
Click Confirm & Activate to confirm
Deactivate Newly Activated Unsubscribed and Undeliverable People
After you activate Support All People, the number of Active people in your account may increase. Don’t fear! You can deactivate people who are unsubscribed and unengaged and people who are undeliverable to keep your costs down.
-
If you want to deactivate a specific subset of people, perform a Bulk Operation and use the Marketing preference filter to select who you want to deactivate.
-
Alternatively, you can deactivate the people from your Inactive Export csv:
- Go to People > Bulk Operations
- Click
to start a new Bulk Operation
- Select Begin under Upload a list of people
- Upload or drag and drop your CSV file
- The box to Treat the first row in your file as headers is turned ON by default
- Click Next
-
Select the Automation Actions Deactivate a person
- Click Next > Perform Operation
- Click Done to exit the page and view the progress of the operation, or click Cancel this operation to cancel the operation
- If you have an OMS or are using our Shopper Activity API, customers who are inactive and then place an order will be reactivated. If you want them to be deactivated again, you can set up an automation to move them back to the inactive state.
Want to automate deactivation moving forward? Install & activate Drip’s premade Deactivate People who are Undeliverable or Unsubscribed workflow.
