In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to migrate your email contact and SMS lists, email templates, and automations from Bronto to Drip.
Before You Get Started
Connect your ecommerce platform, or order management system to Drip. We sync your product catalog, order data, and customer list so you can get the most out of Drip.
If customers exist in your ecommerce store and on your email list from Bronto, don’t sweat it. Drip won’t add duplicate email addresses to your account.
Migrate Your Email List
Export your email contacts from Bronto as a CSV file, and import them into Drip.
Add people into Drip with the correct email preference to ensure you’re respecting their marketing preference. Unsubscribed people from Bronto won’t automatically be marked as unsubscribed in Drip, so it’s important to keep track of subscribed versus unsubscribed people when importing your list to Drip.
- Subscribed people can receive marketing and transactional emails from you.
- Unsubscribed people can only receive transactional emails from you.
Perform two separate CSV file imports, one file for subscribed people and one file for unsubscribed people.
Import Subscribed People
Import your CSV file of subscribed people to Drip:
-
Go to People > Active
-
Click + Add People > Begin

You have 30 seconds to cancel an operation once it’s been scheduled. After that, operations cannot be canceled or reversed.
You’ll be redirected to the Bulk Operations page where you can see the progress of your import. The operation will show as pending while we import your list, and once it’s completed can be found under Complete bulk operations.
Locate the subscribed people you just imported in your account under People > Active > Subscribed to marketing emails. From there, segment for the “Imported YY-DD-MM at HH-MM-SS” tag that was applied on import.
Import Unsubscribed People
Import your CSV file of unsubscribed people to Drip:

Migrate Your Email Templates
We know how important it is to keep a consistent look for your brand, and our Visual Email Builder is here to help you build that look and feel that your customers know and love.
Log into your Bronto account and decide which email templates you want to migrate over to Drip. Once you’ve decided which templates you want to migrate, recreate those templates in Drip.
-
Log into Drip in another tab and go to the Templates tab
-
Click New Template and give it a name
-
Click Create Template and you’ll see your template library, where you can choose a starting point for your email template
-
You already know what you want the email to look like, so go to the Pre-Designed tab and click Start from scratch
Now you're in the email builder, and you can start recreating your email template. In the email builder, you’ll see the option to add a subject and preheader, which you can copy and paste from Bronto.
-
Click on the lock icon in the header area to create your email header
-
Select a block from the left and place it where you want it in the email
-
Use the image modal to upload your images to Drip; then use the sliders to adjust the spacing and size of the image
-
Click Done when you’re done editing a section to exit out of that section
When you upload a new image, compatible image formats include JPEG, PNG, and GIF. Images exceeding the maximum 1800px width are automatically downsized to fit that spec.
Add the rest of your content, and click Preview to see how your email looks on desktop, mobile, and tablet. You also have the option to toggle to Mobile in the email editor and flip and stack content to make sure that your emails are optimized for mobile devices.
When you’re finished, click Done editing template, and you’ll see a preview of your new template under the Templates tab.

Install Premade Workflows
If you have any integrations connected to Bronto to start your Workflows, make sure you disconnect from Bronto and connect to Drip.
Workflows in Bronto are very similar to Workflows in Drip. We recommend installing our premade abandoned cart, browse abandonment, welcome series, and post-first purchase Workflows to get up and running quickly.
We’ve set up all of the Workflow logic for you; entry Triggers, Delays, and emails are set to optimize your communication and increase the number of orders for your store.
All you need to do is install the Workflow for your ecommerce provider, write your emails, and turn it on.
