Ultimately, every email service provider has its own rules for email rendering. While no amount of code can force every inbox to display your styling identically, we can avoid surprises by previewing designs before sending them out to your subscribers. With our Preview As and Send a Test Email feature, you can see exactly how your emails will look and adjust your styling accordingly. and adjusting styling accordingly with the Preview and "Send a test" features.
Preview As
The Preview As functionality is available in any Email Series Campaign, Single Email Campaign email, and Automation email.
Get a general preview of what the rendered Email can start to look like:
- Navigate to the Preview button from any campaign settings page or from within the Email Builder itself
- Select Desktop, Tablet, Phone to inspect the format of the email for each of these devices
Click Preview As to enter the email of a potential recipient to view the email as a specific person. This will also render any dynamic Liquid code specific to that person.
Please note: To preview an email as a specific person, they must be added as a Recipient to the Email Series Campaign or Single Email Campaign.
- Continue to the Send a Test Email feature to send a test copy to any email address entered into the field.
Send a Test Email
The Send a Test feature shows only what the campaign's styling could look like on the subscriber's end. This feature is not meant to test deliverability or predict which inbox the email will land in (ex: promotions folder vs. spam folder).
Along with any Preview function, you'll find the option to Send a Test Email. Again, this extra quality step is considered a recommended best practice, as Email Service Providers ultimately decide how your style renders on their platforms.
Simply enter an email into the field (you can paste a list of comma-separated emails for multiple addresses) to have a copy sent to any inbox.
