Tweak and optimize your Workflow with the ability to delete, duplicate, and drag workflow nodes.
Delete a Node
When you delete a Delay or Action node in a Workflow, you can choose to move the people active on that step to the next step or to remove them from the Workflow.
To delete a Delay or Action node in a Workflow:
- Go to Workflows > Workflows
- Select the Workflow you'd like to delete a Delay or Action node in
- Navigate to the Delay or Action node you'd like to delete
- Hover over the node and click x
- Select Move them to the next step or Remove them from this Workflow
The node will be deleted and anyone who was active on it will be moved to the next step or removed from the Workflow.
When you delete a Start an Email Series or Start Workflow node, the people who are currently in the Email Series or Workflow will complete it.
To remove people from the Email Series after you delete the Start an Email Series node, use our Bulk Operation feature.
Move to the Next Step
When you select the option to Move to the next step, the people from the deleted node go on to the next node in the Workflow. This transfer is similar to moving to the next stop on a train; it takes time to move each person to the next stop. If you need to delete the node directly below the first deleted node, you should allow time for the people to transfer before you delete it.
When you delete a node, any analytics associated with the node are lost.
If you delete the node before people have the opportunity to relocate to the node directly below it, the people are removed from the Workflow.
Duplicate a Node
Create a quick copy of any node within your Workflow with the ability to Duplicate.
Currently, Triggers are not eligible for duplication.
To duplicate a node in a Workflow:
- Go to Workflows > Workflows
- Select the Workflow you'd like to duplicate a node for
- Navigate to the node you'd like to duplicate
- Click on the three-dot menu for that node and select Duplicate
- Move the node to any available green plus sign to duplicate the node
Duplicating Decisions, Parallel Paths (Legacy), Split Tests
Duplicating nested nodes such as Decisions, Parallel Paths, or Split Tests also duplicates the nodes within them. For any nodes within those paths, you are still able to Duplicate them separately.
Split Tests
While in Draft mode, any node in the path can be duplicated in and out of the Split Test. Additionally, any nodes duplicated outside of the Split Test can be moved into any of the paths as well.
When switched from the Draft phase into Running, any nodes within the split paths can be duplicated and placed in any of the green plus signs outside of the active split test. However, as the Running test cannot be edited, you cannot place any duplicated nodes into the running Split Test.
Once a winner is declared, your Split test is Completed. As Split tests cannot be edited, nodes cannot be duplicated in or out of the Split Test paths. Duplicating a Completed test will include all of the original paths and place the new copy in Draft Mode.
Drag and Drop a Node
Edit your workflows by moving them to new locations with the drag-and-drop ability! Nodes can be moved with or without people currently active in that step. While the ability to drag and drop nodes is available while the workflow is live, it is best practice to pause the workflow while making these edits.
Currently, Triggers are not eligible for Drag and Drop.
To move a node in a Workflow:
- Go to Workflows > Workflows
- Select the Workflow you'd like to edit
- Hover over the Node to click and drag to a new location.
- All available locations within the workflow will be highlighted with a green plus sign.
- Release the node over the green plug sign to “drop” and complete the move
Dragging a Decision, Parallel Path (Legacy), or Split Test
When dragging a Decision, Parallel Path, or Split Test, all nodes within those paths tag along! Keep in mind that the individual nodes in those paths can still be moved independently if needed.
Split Tests can only be edited while in Draft mode. While in draft, any node within a split test can be moved around the Workflow. However, once the test is Running or Completed, Split Tests can only be moved with all nodes in the split paths included.
Dragging a Delay node
Similar to all other nodes, Delays can also be moved anywhere within the Workflow.
If people are currently in the delay node when it is moved, these people will move with the delay node as well. From there, they will finish the rest of their delay time before continuing down the next applicable step* to them. to the next node in the workflow.
Upon finishing the rest of their delay time, they will continue down to their next applicable step!
* Please note: If people active in the Delay are moved up the workflow, then any Actions they've already performed will be skipped. Newly added Actions, however, will be respected.
Dragging an Exit
All added Exit nodes can be moved except for the last Exit node preset in a workflow.
