Currently, SMS is available to customers in the United States who have the Support All People feature enabled.
For a quick overview of what SMS features and capabilities look like in Drip, check out Quick Glance: SMS with Drip.
In this guide, we’ll cover the current process for enabling SMS for your account so you can launch your SMS marketing strategy.
Activating SMS
In short, getting started with SMS involves three main steps:
- Submit the SMS Setup Form: Request SMS access for your Drip account
- Submission Review: Await approval from Drip’s Deliverability and Compliance team, which will come with information on the next steps.
- SMS Activation Application: Upon submission approval, complete a questionnaire to register your business and secure your SMS sending number through Twilio.
Of course, we’ll be there to help guide you along the way.
Step One: Request SMS Access
-
Navigate to Settings > SMS Setup to request SMS access.
Don't see the “SMS Setup” option? Contact us via the in-app chat widget or by emailing support@drip.com.
- Review the SMS Overview, eligibility, pricing, and approval process before submitting your request.
- Completing the attached questionnaire enables the “Submit for review” button
- Once submitted, please allow up to 24 business hours (or 3 days) to hear back from our Deliverability and Compliance team.
- Replies are sent to the email you are currently logged in as:
Step Two: Pending Approval
While Drip’s Deliverability and Compliance team reviews your submission, you can prepare for the next phase by exploring the SMS Campaign Builder to create some draft campaigns and gathering your Twilio registration/SMS Activation details.
During the Pending Approval stage, you can:
-
Review Your Business Terms of Service: It is important to include proper language for SMS marketing in addition to email marketing as part of your Privacy Policy/ToS.
- This will prepare you for Step Three: SMS Activation, where you will need to provide a link to your ToS and Privacy Policy in SMS Set Up .
-
Preview the SMS Builder: Explore the editor within SMS Campaigns.
- Workflow SMS actions remain unavailable until SMS is fully enabled in your account.
-
Prepare SMS Activation information:
- While you will not be asked these questions until Approval is granted by the Deliverability & Compliance team, you can prepare ahead of time by reviewing the questions provided below in Step Three: SMS Activation.
Update your Website’s Privacy Policy/ToS
Protect your brand from SMS compliance issues by updating the Terms of Service/Terms of Use on your website.
With an up-to-date ToS and Privacy Policy, you’ll be ready to enter those URLs into the SMS Setup page once SMS is fully activated for your account.
Preview SMS Campaign Builder
While you are under Pending Approval, you will not be able to send an SMS. However, you can get acquainted with the campaign builder, create some drafts, and set up a Virtual Contact Card.
Step Three: SMS Activation
Upon approval, the Deliverability team will reach out via email with the necessary questions to set up an SMS sending number. To get ahead of these questions, here is what you can expect:
