Add the power of SMS to your marketing strategies by housing both email and SMS in one platform. Combining email and SMS gives you truly multichannel, high-converting marketing campaigns, each with its own role. While email can be used to communicate with greater depth (long-form messaging, product showcases, newsletters, etc.), SMS gives you a direct line of communication, placing high-priority information in your subscriber’s hands. SMS messages can be used to communicate time-sensitive offers, cart reminders, back-in-stock notifications, etc.
Let’s take a quick look at what you’d get with Drip SMS.

Sending an SMS
SMS Builder
Create personalized messages with the SMS builder.
Built with optimization and compliance in mind, the SMS campaign builder also gives you control over what to include in your SMS message whether it’s just text or you need to add an image to drive the message.
In the SMS Builder, you can:
- Access your Brand Images to quickly transform plain text into visual MMS messages,
- Keep track of your character count to stay informed of how many segments ($) your content will take.
- Ensure compliance using built-in checkboxes for contact personalization, virtual contact cards, and automated opt-out language.
Single SMS Campaigns and SMS via Workflows
Build your SMS campaigns and send them out your way with your marketing strategy in mind:
Single SMS Campaigns: Send one-time broadcast messages to targeted subscriber segments for things like timely promotions, product drops, or company news:
SMS in Workflows: Automate text messages within your customer journeys to engage shoppers at key touchpoints, such as abandoned carts or post-purchase follow-ups.
SMS Metrics
The same aggregate reporting you’re familiar with for emails is also available for SMS. With SMS activation, you also unlock a dedicated SMS Metrics report regarding all things reporting across sends, whether it be single SMS campaigns or SMS sent within Workflows.
SMS Metrics provides a hub for the review of engagement, revenue attribution, and delivery across all SMS sends over any time period.

SMS and Compliance Management
Long running SMS brands operate under extremely explicit consent guidelines in order to stay in line with Cell Carrier requirements for complaints, message bounce thresholds, and opt out rates. While email thresholds have a little bit of wiggle room, to allow for something like contacting old subscribers, SMS thresholds are much more aggressive, and “STOP” requests count as a complaint, so managing your list correctly both at the point of opt-in, and as a list ages is key.

SMS Pricing
Drip’s SMS pricing consists of monthly tiers aligned with your usage based on:
- Active Subscribers: The total number of people opted in to receive SMS from your brand.
- Message Segments: The aggregate volume of SMS and MMS text blocks you send each month.
There are no hidden carrier fees, and your dedicated sending number is included at no extra cost.

SMS Activation: What To Expect
In order to prevent spam, mobile carriers now require more information for approval, such as Business Identification Numbers, to legitimize you as a sender.
As such, enabling SMS requires a quick registration process before you can start sending:
- Submit SMS Setup Form: Fill out the initial SMS request inside your Drip account under Settings > SMS Setup.
- Compliance Review: Drip’s Deliverability and Compliance team reviews your submitted details and will follow up with the next steps.
- SMS Activation Application: Upon approval, complete a short registration questionnaire to register your business and obtain your dedicated sending number through Twilio.
