Convert Shoppers into Customers with Product Price Drop Notifications
Many factors come into play that can give your customer pause when deciding whether or not to purchase a product, including the current price. What shows that intent to buy a product?
- Abandoned cart: When a shopper creates a cart in your store, fills in their information (email address, name, etc), but leaves one item or more behind due to its current pricing.
- Viewing a Product: Viewing a product can also indicate interest but the current price might prevent them from even adding it to their cart.
Don't let the current price make or break the deal! With a Price Drop Notification workflow, you bridge the gap by letting potential buyers know when the product they showed interest in drops in price.
How the Price Drop Workflow works
The Price Drop workflow consists of two Price Drop elements:
- Price Drop trigger for the Workflow
- Price Drop Dynamic Content Block in the email content
As people navigate through your online store, they may perform one of three events needed to trigger a Price Drop event:
- Added to cart events including 'Checkout updated' and 'Item Checkout updated'
- Viewed a product event
While they navigate these events, Drip will tag the products they viewed or added to their cart as “interested” on the back end. Drip will continue to monitor those interested products to check for either a Purchase or a Price Drop from your store.
Should an interested item be purchased, the “interested” tag is removed from the items to avoid triggering a Price Drop event for an item people have already purchased. Should the interested item go down in price in a way that also falls within your Price Drop Thresholds, a Price Drop event gets added to the customer’s profile, triggering your appropriate Price Drop workflow:
- Product Price Drop event
Price Drop notifications when a person Views a Product
By default, interest is strongly indicated when a product is added to a customer’s cart. While this is a giant indicator of a customer’s interest in purchasing, it ignores the intent cues when someone views a product and does not add it to their cart!
With Drip, you can drive sales by choosing whether or not you’d like to notify customers of price drops when they View a product.
To enable this level of notification:
- Navigate to Settings > Account > General
- Toggle ON “Include Viewed Product events in Price Drop logic”
Create your Thresholds
Navigate to Settings > Account > General to set your preferred Price Drop window length in days and Price Drop percent threshold to create more specific triggers for your Price Drop notifications.
