After setting up your Custom Sending Domain, you are now set to help make your emails look more authentic by using a custom From address with that same domain, as well as the option to configure a Reply-to email.
While both From addresses and Reply-to addresses can serve the same purpose in showing the validity of your email, they can also perform different roles:
-
From Address: The familiar contact email address.
- This consistent address is set to be recognized by the subscriber and the inbox as a trusted sender.
-
Reply-to Address: The address that can help drive engagement.
- When a subscriber responds, ensure that their email lands in the right inbox. Whether it is a dedicated support team, a sales inquiry, or an inbox dedicated to feedback, ensure replies reach the right team.
Set a custom Reply-To address and From address across all your Single Email Campaigns, Workflows, and Email Series.

Frequently Asked Questions
What emails can be used for "From" and "Reply-to"?
Drip requires you to verify a custom sending domain and use sending addresses with the same domain. This means that free email addresses such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc cannot be used within our platform. This is in line with current regulations such as CAN-SPAM and other similar requirements for marketing.
Shopify Owned Domains:
If your store currently uses a default Shopify address (ex: yourstore.myshopify.com), you’ll need a custom domain (ex: yourstore.com) before you can send emails with Drip. You can buy or transfer a domain directly through Shopify, or use providers like GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or Namecheap. Once your custom domain is live, you'll be ready to verify your custom sending domain and set up your custom sending email addresses.
Why can’t I delete a sending email address?
Once a default email is chosen with a verified custom sending domain, you must always have at least one default address. If you'd like to maintain only one sending email address, you will need to add the new email first, set it as a default, then delete the old one.
What happens to my already active or scheduled emails if I delete one of my saved sending email addresses?
- Deleting a sending email set as a Reply-to email:
-
This will remove the reply-to email from all campaigns and leave the field blank.
-
- Deleting a sending email set as your default From email:
- To delete a sending address that is set as your default, you will first need to set a new default address.
Declaring a new default address will present you with a prompt to update all existing emails with the newly defined default address
This action cannot be skipped and will only affect emails already using the default. Any emails set up with another sending address will retain their settings.
