Step 1: What should trigger this rule?
A Rule Trigger is based on an Event that comes from Drip or from an integration. When the specified trigger event occurs for a person, they will trigger the Rule and the selected actions are performed on them.
Specify the event to trigger a Rule
The drop-down to the left contains providers that send events to Drip. When you select Drip as the provider, the drop-down to the right contains events specific to Drip. When another provider is selected, events specific to that provider are made available in the drop-down to the right.
Select the Trigger provider and event:
-
From the drop-down to the left, select the event Provider
-
From the drop-down to the right, select the Event
Rules can consist of multiple trigger events. Although there may be multiple trigger events, a person is required to perform only one of the specified events in order to trigger the Rule. Think of it as "if a person does this or that, trigger the Rule." There is no limit to the number of trigger events you can specify for a Rule.
To add an additional Trigger to a Rule:
-
Click + Add another trigger…
-
Specify the trigger provider and event
For more information about what providers and events can be used, read more about predefined events.
Trigger Filter
Apply additional criteria to a Rule trigger to narrow down the number of people who can trigger the Rule.
To apply a filter to a trigger:
-
Click Change
-
Apply Filters
-
Click Update Criteria
With a filter, the trigger no longer applies to everyone who performs the trigger event. A person must perform the event and fulfill the additional criteria as specified.
For more information about what Filters you can use to make a Rule more exclusive, read about our People Filter.
