Depending on the type of message you'd like to send to your subscribers, Drip offers three different email features that will help you get that done.
In this article:
Send a one-time email to all of your subscribers, or a specific segment of subscribers, all at once. You can schedule your broadcast to send immediately, or to wait for a specific day and time.
If you're new to Drip, broadcast emails are the easiest way to start sending from your account.
Take a moment to view an introductory video about Broadcasts:
Broadcast emails work best for these types of email messages:
- One-off announcements
- New product and product updates
- Upcoming sales
All broadcast emails need to be manually scheduled, meaning you pick the date and time you'd like to send the email.
While configuring your broadcast, go to the Settings tab.
Click the Schedule email to send... button to the bottom right.
Then select when you'd like to send the broadcast.
Send a series of emails with Campaigns. When a subscriber begins a campaign subscription, we automatically send each email according to the scheduling you've configured.

Campaign emails work best for these types of email messages:
- product/service marketing
- informative/education (think lesson series)
- onboarding/instructional guides
- evergreen content/offers
Use the Send a campaign action when it comes to sending a campaign from inside of the Drip UI.
Notice how in the workflow below the campaign is subscribed immediately following a form submission.
In Rules, you can use the Send a campaign action in the action step of the automation.
You can perform a bulk operation to send a campaign to a group of subscribers all at once. The action to Send a campaign can be found when configuring the second step of the operation.
If you'd like to start a campaign subscription for an individual subscriber, go to their profile and choose the campaign you’d like to send from under the Subscription tab.
Once subscribed, a subscriber will remain in a campaign until they have been removed somehow. In workflows, a subscriber will be immediately removed from a campaign once they achieve a downstream goal.
Send one-off emails at specific trigger points in your Workflows or Rules. For instance, if someone makes a purchase from you, you'd probably like to send them a short email to thank them.
Take the following example:
Take note of how the Send a one-off email action has been configured directly below the purchase event.
To place a one-off email in your workflow, click the + icon wherever you'd like the email to go in the automation sequence.
Select an Action step.
Then, choose the Send a one-off email action from the drop-down list.
In Rules, you'll find the Send a one-off email action in the second step, the Action step of the rule.
Subscribers will receive your one-off emails when they pass through that particular automation sequence.
