Split tests allow you to create and test different variants for the subject line, "From" name, and time of send of your campaign emails. To find out which email subject line will result in the most opens, or if you should be sending emails at 11am or 2pm, run a split test to find out.
Note: Split testing is only currently available for Campaigns.

To set up a new split test, go to Campaigns > Split Tests and click the “New Split Test” button.
You’ll notice that you can run a split test on three different email criteria:
- Subject line
- “From” Name
- Time of send
For example, if you're having trouble deciding between a couple of different subject lines, select "Subject line" then follow the rest of the steps to configure the test. For each test, you'll add variances to the original and let the test run until it can determine a winner.
Visit your test dashboard to check in on the progress of your split test.
You’ll notice that this dashboard will track these 3 things:
- Days running
- Approx. days to completion
You will need to give the test some time to circulate email variants before it can successfully determine which is most effective. Another factor that can play into how quickly the test determines a winning variant, is the subscription rate at which the campaign is subscribed to by your subscribers. The more subscribers that are subscribed to your campaigns, the faster the test can determine its winner.
Once you are satisfied with the test results, you can click on the “Stop & Use This Variation” button to stop the test and send that particular variance going forward
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this same split test feature be used for broadcast emails?
No. This method of split testing is only available in the Campaigns feature.
Can I test all three variant options at the same time for a single email?
Yes. To do that, though, you'll need to set up a separate split test for each variant option you'd like to run a test for.
