One interesting use for scheduled bulk operations is to announce an upcoming sale you might be planning. In this scenario, we'll send out an email campaign to a segment of subscribers that hold a relevant tag. We want to use a bulk operation so that we can schedule a specific date and time to send the campaign. This means that the entire segment will start getting the campaign emails at the same time.
Once you know your launch date, create a scheduled bulk operation to subscribe anyone tagged with “September launch” to the launch campaign a few minutes before you want the first email to send.
Use the "Send a campaign" action to send your campaign.
Finally, schedule your bulk operation to run the day of your launch.
Tip: It can take up to 15 minutes for campaign emails to begin sending, so if you want to target an exact launch time, configure the first email of your campaign to only send on a certain day of the week (e.g. Tuesday, 11 am), and scheduled the bulk op to add subscribers Monday evening. This will help ensure the first email goes out at the scheduled time.
