You have probably noticed that Drip does not support embedded video in emails. This means that video content cannot be played directly from within the email itself. In fact, this is an uncommon feature that the majority of email service providers do not currently offer to its users.
Many email clients, such as Google and Yahoo, will mark those emails as risky deliveries. Meaning, emails containing playable video content will most likely end up in your recipients’ spam folders.
We do, however, recommend this simple alternative:
Take a screenshot of the first frame of your video, insert it into the email and link the image to wherever the video is hosted online.
Here’s what you will need:
- a video hosted somewhere online
- a screenshot of the video
If you are unfamiliar with how to take a screenshot on your device, check out this resource.
You will want your screenshot to be 550px wide if you want it to fill the entire width of Drip’s default template. Make adjustments as needed.
To add the image to your Drip account, click the image upload button in the email editor.
Upload your screenshot and you'll see the image in the email editor.
Click on the image to highlight it. Then, click on the link button.
When the link modal appears, enter the URL where the video is hosted.
Click Save and then go to the Preview tab to view the email as it will look to your subscribers.
